A most excellent presentation of the Word of God

Thomas Nelson has done it right. This single column, paragraph format, text only Bible encourages you to read it. The text size is large and the pages are thick enough and opaque enough to minimize print on the opposite side of the page from showing through. By not using red ink for the Words of Jesus, the reader is not distracted from the context of the words.

Dear reader of this review, please do not be put off by the negative critiques of this Bible. The size is good, the font is very readable, the quality is adequate, the cover color is OK. This Bible is at least as portable as a paperback novel or medium sized hardback book, and easily as readable. (Don't hear too many people complaining about the portability, thickness, weight, and text size of novels).

If you can afford it, I suggest that you also purchase Nelson's "New Illustrated Bible Dictionary" and "The New Strong's Concise Concordance & Vine's Concise Dictionary Of The Bible" one volume reference.

With these three books, you will have a "kit" that will be a blessing to you in the form of pure enjoyment in reading and learning about the Word of God.

Publishers of other Bible translations should take note and follow Nelson's example by publishing Bibles in this format (single column, paragraph format, text only, black text). In so doing, I believe they will add to the blessings of the people who read the various other translations.

Very Nice Bible!

[[ASIN:978-1418542559 NKJV Single-Column Bible - Large Print Imitation Leather]] Being an avid reader of the NKJV Bible, I was pleasantly surprised with how nice this Bible is; especially its "imitation leather." It's very supple and very soft. Initially, the cover is stiff but after a little use becomes quite pliable. The large print isn't exactly large, but its dark font makes it very easy to read.

Though some don't like the fact that it's not a red-letter edition, I do. It's a simple, no-frills, bells or whistles Bible. It hasn't any maps, but it does include a 60-page concordance and a daily Bible-reading program. If this is what you're looking for in a Bible I highly recommend this one.

Useful, aesthetically pleasing edition.

An excellent reading edition of the NKJV Bible. The single-column, paragraph format makes for pleasant, devotional reading, with minimal distractions. The font is just right, with minimal bleed-through. The cover is nice, with sturdy binding. The size is nice and portable, good for Church and personal reading. A few things I would change: I would add more subject headings to make it easier to find familiar passages. Also, although this is perhaps irrelevant, I would not have 'NKJV Single-Column' larger than 'Bible' on the spine. 'Holy Bible' with the rest in smaller letters would make more sense. This is a great edition, however. Would recommend to anyone who favors the NKJV.

Complete but dense

I bought this bought about a month ago and even though I have not read it completely I am fairly familiar with it now, so here's my review.

I approached the book as a "teach yourself acupressure" guide, being aware of the limitations of this approach. I am acquainted with yoga and meditation techniques, and a just over the average human anatomy knowledge, but I haven't had any contact with traditional chinese medicine so far.

The printing and binding is fairly good. It is paper back but the cover looks resilient. It is printed in quality paper (maybe too white?), which is a plus for a book that is more a look-up manual than a read and store story. The illustrations are black and white, and even though I would like a little bit more of detail some times, they are helpful in general. All the Strange Vessels and Meridians have their points illustrated on a standing human figure, relating to both the major skeletal and muscular body references. Specific points like Meridian source points are illustrated on local figures of hands and feet. Later chapters dealing, for instance, with jaw, head and neck tension also have specific head illustrations to help find the right spot for the points.

The book covers a fairly good amount of theory, as well as giving practical examples to be applied "as-is". My feeling at this point is that there is enough background to understand why the offered release patterns work, and to gain enough insight as to develop your own practice. Furthermore, there are plentiful quotations to other sources, which gives the text a more scientific flavour, and allows the reader to check other opinions.

Now with the downsides. As a total beginner in the subject, I found it difficult to find my way through the book. Different chapters are written by different authors, and while the overall structure of the book seems reasonable, useful knowledge is sometimes scattered accross different sections, or duplicated (better this than spread out...). For instance, chapter 3 explains what seems to be one of the major foundations of the method: Strange Flows. It explains how they regulate Qi and how they interconnect the meridians. However it is not until chapter 4 that the meridians are actually explained. Even then, there are constant references to later chapters 10-21, which not only contain more in-depth explanations of a given meridian, but also general theory which, in my opinion, should be covered earlier in the book.

My biggest critique is with the numbering method itself. The book develops a new numbering system for the points, and it includes the equivalent chinese numbering for cross-reference with other sources, which is a good thing. Early on in the book the basic points of the system are introduced, including their location and function. However, later chapters introduce further points in a non-systematic way. Many specific release patterns include points that are not explained anywhere else than the section of the pattern, and some of them do not even include a textual explanation of their location. This makes me wonder whether the new numbering is useful at all. In any case I find that a complete index with all the points that appear in the book - and not only the basic fifty five points - would be very useful.

All in all, I find the book very interesting, with a lot of content, but lacking a little bit of structure.

Hard to get into. To scientific and long and somewhat boring. Not my favorite book on the subject. More of a text book than a "go to book" for practical. Better for serious students of the practice.Moderately recommended.

Melissa has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Multnomah University in Portland, OR, and is a member of SCBWI. An educator since 2012, she has taught multiple ages and subjects. However, it was working as the school librarian where her love for children’s literature grew. Delightful little book by a new author and illustrater...kids will lean much from this one

What a delightful, well written and illustrated little book this one is! The story, told in nicely done verse explores a dilemma we all face from time to time. You have folks with opinions and then you have folks that are driven by pure facts. There is plenty of room in this world for both points of view and Melissa Polyakov gently explores and illustrates how it would be a happier world for us all if each side accepted the other.

I had to smile when I read this tale as it brought memories to a young sergeant that worked for me in the military years ago. This young man's entire life was based on FACTS. If he could absolutely verify something in black and white, he simply could not function. To be truthful, this kid was an absolute pain to work with. I would tell him that from time to time you just had to let our imagination go, express your opinion and not necessarily back that opinion up with volumes of `facts.' Opinions are what add zip to our lives and this point is well made in this well thought-out story. It should also be noted that the author is quite subtle is sneaking in the fact that we need to accept the opinions of others. We may not agree with those opinions, but we must certainly listen and give them a chance.

The author has explored the pros and cons of facts v/s opinions by using food as an example...a nicely done little meal Miss Opinion cooks for Mr. Fact. It all works out quite well and the point is well driven home.

I love the simply verse the author uses to tell her tale; it is quite captivating. The illustrations are bright and very well done and go perfectly with the story. This is one of those books that can be used quite effectively on a one on one read, or better yet, a group read. There is plenty of room here to stimulate discussions with the wee ones you are reading it to or with. It does hold quite a number of good vocabulary words and uses them in a fashion that they are quite understandable even to the very young.

Melissa Polyakov, the author and Yana Gruntkovskayo, the illustrator, make a fine team and I am hoping we will see more of their work on down the line.

This book will be given to my daughter who teaches first grade (27 years now) to be used in her classroom.

Teachers, add this to your collection!

As children's literature is a wonderful way to engage students and create interest in abstract concepts, this children's book makes the perfect unit starter for teaching fact and opinion in elementary classrooms. The storyline is fresh and the illustrations are captivating. The characters are relatable and the story delightful. Children will see the value of expressing opinions as a way of adding color and interest to the world of facts. I hope to see more from this author and illustrator combination!

This is a fantastic children's book

This is a fantastic children's book! It's a charming story! Readers will better understand facts and opinions and be exposed to vocabulary words like objective and subjuctive. The story is first and foremost, so kids won't even realize how much they are learning! (It is written by a teacher.)

The illustrations are darling and lend themselves perfectly to the story.

Life changing.

If you're a believer that your thoughts and beliefs can create the things in your life, whether material things or whatever it is that will bring you happiness, this book will become your bible. You should first start with "The Secret" (the audio book is more effective), then advance to the earlier teachings of Mike Dooley, then progress to this. Again, audio versions are much more effective. I've been studying this for over 10 years, and my life has never been more complete. All the things I've wanted to have or accomplish, I now have, just because I believed without doubt that I could have it, that I deserved it, and did what I needed to do to get started, then let the Universe take over and get me to my goals. It's not bolognie. You don't have to accept everything that Mike teaches. You do what works for you and blends with your beliefs.

Infinite Possibilities outlines a very straight forward plan for manifesting dreams. The basic premise is that once a dream is clearly visualized, all that's required is a belief that it will happen coupled with sustained action in the general direction of the stated goal. Dooley claims the Universe will do the rest.

Dooley's ideas can be described as a Plan of Action for the Law of Attraction. Oftentimes, people read about the Law of Attraction and interpret it as just wishing something into being. In reality, the Law of Attraction is a call to action. In Infinite Possibilities, Dooley stresses the importance of taking ownership of a dream by acting on it.

Infinite Possibilities touches on the idea of people being eternal spirits – something those who believe in an afterlife claim as well. The departure comes in Dooley's assertion that we can have more than one earthly experience – something many traditional spiritual teachings fall short of. Dooley doesn't use the word reincarnation, but that's basically what he's talking about. I neither believe nor reject this idea. My position is that the only moment I have is now, so everything else is irrelevant.

One thing that separates Dooley from other motivational thinkers is his profound sense of humor. Life should be fun and learning how to live one full of joy should be fun as well.

... This book is . So many realizations about my life from this book. And I've been into this kind of work for a while. I think the grounded, no BS tone he has that keeps it real in this subject. Don't "think" to much about whether or not to buy this book, just get it with a sense of knowing that there will be something in it you needed to hear to help you gain clarity. Think about how you'll feel with that better understanding of your life and what you'll do with it... And it will happen in a way that's right for you. That's one of the things this book teaches you how to do.
